New Year, new wardrobe. Many people have made a similar sort of vow when January inevitably rolls around yet again, along with eat better, go to the gym and finally buckling down and learning to play the ukulele. But while these attempts at self improvement will have petered out two weeks into January (and good riddance to them – gyms are wholly rubbish places), the new wardrobe bit is entirely feasible (not an actual wardrobe you understand, you’d have to go to Ikea for that) And to aid in this, Doc Black are pleased as proverbial punch to introduce our new ladies t-shirt range, Gothic Girls (fanfare)

These are exclusively licensed designs from Unholy Vaults, a very talented lot indeed! Printed on high quality black t-shirts, these are just the way to get you through these early days of 2010, where in January has already lasted about 70 days and daylight is a luxury. These Gothic Girls are the perfect pick me up! Enjoy :)

Calling all budding artists and fashionistas! Doc Black is proud to announce it’s first Design A T-Shirt Competition. If you’re a student currently studying and residing in the North East then make sure you check it out!

This is your canvas, and you can fill it with pretty much anything you want! Two More Weeks To Halloween...

…and now anyone who is intimately familiar with the the cinematic wonder that is Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch (only one of the series not to feature Michael Myers fact fans. Or a witch actually, come to think of it) will have a rather irritating tune stuck in their head, sorry about that! But the fact remains, soon All Hallows Eve will be upon us once again. And no where is this fact advertised more vehemently than the Doc Black Halloween window display spectacular! The pictures below don’t really do it justice, you really should check it out for yourselves. And while there, why not indulge in some Halloween costume buying fun?

PS: And for those curious about the irritating jingle mentioned above – Halloween 3 Song Silver Shamrock Be warned: It will get stuck in your head and it will stay there forever. Even when you’ve think you’ve forgotten it, it’ll be lurking in your memory banks for all time. The overwhelming cheesy 1980stasticness of it all is too much. Enjoy!

The title there can be attributed to George Carlin (I only found out he died last year this year. Gutted. RIP Rufus!), and is, o’course, in honour of Halloween, which will soon be on us once again. Make sure you visit the Doc Black shops for all your costuming needs, and to check out the uber-ace window displays – Fenwicks Christmas has nothing on us, no creepy animatronic Santa-San’s and nerve shreddingly annoying carols here thank you so very much.

Also (fanfare please) new stock on the website! Some gorgeous new skirts and dresses have been added, so please check them out! More on the way.

PS: However you decide to spend All Hallow’s Eve, please don’t go and see the new Halloween II movie. Watch the originals (^^) instead, for love of Christopher Lee (also a good choice of Halloween cinematic companion), There’s no better time of the year to do so!

London Edge 09

Ohaiyogozaimasu everyone – for the non Japanese speaking among you, in which I do include myself – although I am learning at a snail’s (with a limp) pace – that means good morning.

Last week Doc Black made the long trip to the Big Smoke (aka London) to attend the London Edge Alternative Fashion Trade Show. We were itching to find the latest and most amazing new goth/punk/dare to be different clothing and we only went and bally well succeeded didn’t we?! In between marvelling at stilt walkers, burlesque dancers (admitdly that was more of an ogle for some members of our party) and er, alien autopsys (not the underperfoming Ant and Dec film I hasten to add), we made some orders for lots of new and exciting clothes (Oh yeah, there were clothes there as well).

In the coming months Doc Black will begin to stock Iron Fist, Spiral, Phaze, Funky Eyes Contact Lenses and Couch UK (if you haven’t heard of them already, you will soon – uber wicked UV T-Shirts for all you cyber goths and secret ravers out there).

Exciting times ahead methinks! Until next time, ja mata ne :)

Dodgy Chick Flicks and Magnetic Lassos

Konnichiwa peoples! Hope all is well with you, youre looking mighty fine today. Did you get a new haircut? All this shameless flattery means I have been looking back over my other blogs and seen the number of times I’ve promised to put new, shiny stuff on the website, and then, er, haven’t. So apologies all around, and as an act of contrition I forced myself to watch Step Up 2: The Streets in a darkened room 10 times in a row. So I hope y’all forgive me (did I mention how nice your hair’s looking?)

This time I can categorically 100% state that new stuff will be on the website soon. How can I be so sure? Because I took all the photos and am in the process of Photoshopping the life out of them. (My that magnetic lasso can be a tricksy little beggar!) So soon the following will be rocking up to the website, ready to wow you all:

Bikinis, Bags, Purses, Scarfs (I already own a couple, and they are lush!), Necklaces, Bracelets, Hair Accessories, Bandanas, Chains (the type that hang on your trousers, although some of them do look pretty funky as necklaces too), and that was only the first box of stock. There’s another one waiting for my David Baileyesque photographic skills as we speak, so keep checking back!

UPDATE 06/08/09 – Bikinis are up, just in time for the rest of summer! (Hopeful), and maybe even an Indian Summer (very hopeful, and slightly naive also possibly)

UPDATE 10/08/09 – Bandanas also up! Slowly but surely, we make progress. Rome wasn’t built in a day after all… :)

UPDATE 12/08/09 – Part one of the Scarf Offensive has been launched! (Translation: Some scarves have been put on the website, more to follow)

UPDATE 18/08/09 – Scarves are officially done. Next stop, zandanas, and then we get onto the really interesting stuff (ie. Actual clothes)

The Doc Black stall must have done well if the only thing we have left is a pink haired staff member, and he’s been reduced to a very reasonable price! Well done to all the staff who put in some super hard graft and deserve to sleep for a week. Hope all the festival goers, workers or no, had an amazing time. See y’all next year!
